Sheila Watkins (Founder and National Program Director) is a perinatal fitness specialist with over a decade of experience training 1800+ pregnant and new mothers, and educating hundreds of fitness instructors, health professionals, and childbirth educators on the rapidly changing field of perinatal fitness. In 1989 she created Healthy Moms® Fitness Programs to provide safe and effective group exercise classes and personal training for new and expectant moms as well as education and training in the field of perinatal exercise for fitness professionals, childbirth educators and other health professionals. She holds a Master of Life Sciences degree in Physiology and Nutrition and five certifications from nationally recognized pregnancy and postpartum fitness instructor training organizations. Sheila is a former instructor in the Division of Nursing at the University of North Carolina at Winston-Salem State University and the Department of Foods and Nutrition at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. She is a “Gold” certified Group Exercise Leader and Personal Trainer with the American Council on Exercise (ACE), and a certified Personal Trainer/Fitness Counselor with the Aerobics and Fitness Association of America (AFAA). Sheila also holds an aqua fitness certification from the Aquatic Exercise Association (AEA). Her articles on prenatal exercise have been published in “Running and FitNews” and the Melpomene Institute’s “Pregnancy and Exercise” educational materials. Sheila is also a frequent speaker at various national fitness conventions on the subject of pregnancy and postpartum fitness, and is the mother of two young children.

MaryBeth Winstead (President of National Licensing and owner of HealthyMoms of Wake Co., NC) Marybeth became a Healthy Moms® fan with the birth of her first child, Morgan, in 1998. She was certified by Healthy Moms® in 2001 and began teaching to the pre/postnatal population. She has been an ACE Certified Group Fitness Instructor for over 20 years and has taught various classes and workshops for facilities throughout the Triangle. In 2001, she gave birth to her son, Chase, and earned her Personal Training and Pilates certifications. She has been working with individuals (primarily pre/postnatal) to design safe and effective exercise programs and is a member of ICEA (International Childbirth Educators) and Lamaze.
